General Membership Information

One major problem is our declining membership, sadly this is as a result of our members becoming older with the inevitable ending. To operate our miniature railway safely we do need good membership support. If you feel you live in our catchment area and would like to offer your support please make contact, we would be pleased to meet you. Membership is not dependent on you having any engineering background, just a love of the outdoors and miniature railways. Anyone becoming a member will benefit from speaking with other members that have between them, a wealth of knowledge to share. Membership Fee's include some personal accident cover and all members are covered under Public Liability Insurance. We meet (weather permitting) every Wednesday evening at the track during the warmer months of the year, this is optional. When it gets dark and colder we currently meet at the Fordbridge Centre in Ashford once a month on selected Thursday evenings. We meet every Sunday morning at the track from around 09-30am until 12-00noon even when not running the railway, again weather permitting especially if outdoor work is needed. These are the times for any repair or maintenance work to be done. So if you are interested please come along and speak with some of our members, a good cuppa and selection of biscuits are always available.

On occasions 'new' members will, after a period of time, be invited to learn how to drive one of our electric locomotives and maybe even a smaller steam powered one. General duties on passenger carrying days include setting up the passenger cars and safety features associated with those. Making sure the track is fully serviceable and secured. When running a passenger day service the fence and gates are secured, with only members and others by invitation allowed inside. This is a rule imposed on us by Spelthorne Council and our Insurers.
